Really, Chucky? Child's Play Celebrated 4/20 In A Wacky Way

Earlier this week, fans got a new trailer for the upcoming Childs Play, with the infamous Chucky recently announced to be played by none other than Mark Hamill. So its safe to say the anticipation for the horror remake is high. So high, in fact, that the murderous doll has taken to Twitter to celebrate 4/20 with a weed-themed fashion statement and puff of smoke. Check it out:

Yep they went there. As the holidays hashtag trends on Twitter for the day, fans have come across this advertisement referencing Chuckys 420-friendly past -- with reactions emitting a whole lot of yikes toward Child Plays marketing strategy.

User @ImperialMince noted the franchise may be trying a bit too hard to relate to the young'uns. Take a look:

Amidst all the reactions showing their cringey feelings toward the posting, @xVeHeMeNcEx took it back to 1998s Bride of Chucky, when Chucky smokes a joint. The image of an embroidered marijuana plant on his overalls with a bud pun to go with the hes your best friend tagline for the film seemed a bit too spot on. Check it out:

Is the advertisement a tease for Chucky blazing it in the upcoming Childs Play? The film will reportedly be receiving an R-rating, and with Mark Hamill on board to frolic around as the mischievous doll, who knows what kind of antics are coming our way in the new flick.

The reboot has an altogether different spin on the origin of Chucky, so it is interesting the marketing for it includes a little nod to its past films. If anything, the post may be seeking to mix in a bit of nostalgia for the boldness of Bride of Chucky back in the day, and also get fans intrigued for what we may see this time.

Instead of Chucky being the spirit of a serial killer, this time around he will be an A.I. toy designed to sync up into other smart home tech in the house of a mother (Aubrey Plaza) and son (Gabriel Bateman) who have just moved to a new town. So far, weve seen a bit of Chucky using his iconic chefs knife to wreak havoc on the neighbor, along with Christmas lights in one scene in the newest trailer.

However, the teasers have shown little of Chuckys actual performance, except for the line goodnight Andy at the end. Mark Hamill reportedly went above and beyond to voice the character, as he marathoned all the films, took notes, and crafted a few voices on his first day in the recording booth. We cant wait to see what is in store for us in Childs Play when it comes to theaters on June 21, although that cringey 420 ad looks to be swaying fans in the other direction today.

Star Wars' John Boyega Says He's Had Talks With Marvel

It's no secret that the world is pretty Star Wars crazy right about now. Following the prequels' conclusion, there was a long hiatus void of silver screen content. And with Disney now in charge of the property, we should expect new and exciting Star Wars movies every year or so for the foreseeable future. Actor John Boyega is one of the stars of the current trilogy, and recently expanded his influence in the business by producing and starring in Pacific Rim Uprising. Some fans have also been calling for him to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, considering Episode IX will likely be his last appearance as Finn. Now it looks like he's actually had talks with the behemoth studio.

This exciting news comes to us from John Boyega's recent appearance Awesome Con in Washington, D.C.. During his Q&A with the audience, he was reportedly asked about taking on the mantle of Blade in the MCU. While that seems like a great fit for the actor, he actually revealed he'd never take the role from actor Wesley Snipes. But he has had some meetings with the MCU about potentially joining-- just not anytime soon.

John Boyega's comments (via Bounding Into Comics) are enough to make any self respecting cinephile or nerd giddy with excitement. Fans are eager to see the same faces across multiple sci-fi platforms, like how both Josh Brolin and Chris Evans have played multiple comic book characters. Getting a Star Wars lead into the MCU would be a great way for the fans to keep up with Boyega, and watch him kick more ass in the future.

Considering the state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it certainly doesn't seem out of the question for John Boyega to take a role in the not too distant future. Avengers 4 will end Phase Three, and will bring the MCU as we know it to a close. Many of the cinematic universe's leading actors are coming to the end of their contracts, and it seems like just about any hero could be killed off in the next two Avengers movies. Some new characters are going to be needed to fill in the ranks, and Boyega would be a major win.

As for which character John Boyega could play, there seems to be a variety of different choices now that the shared universe is embracing both cosmic and magic stories. That being said, fans aren't likely going to let go the idea of John Boyega playing Blade. Since Doctor Strange opened up the MCU to more magical elements, it's about time that vampire hero joined the shared universe. Then again, many fans (including Boyega himself) are hoping that Wesley Snipes returns to the role if/when it's brought back to theaters.

When You Can Book A Reservation For Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is about to become the hottest ticket in town. The new land will be open at Disneyland in just over a month, but if you want to visit it within the first three weeks, you'll need a special reservation. This morning Disney Parks released new information via press prelease about how to get that reservation. While we already knew that guests staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel will get a reservation for the new land automatically, everybody else will want to be ready on the morning of May 2.

Reservations will be available to those not staying at Disneyland Resort hotels beginning at 10:00 AM Pacific Time on May 2. However, the exact process for how to acquire one won't be revealed until two hours earlier, so those looking to grab one will want to be ready at 8:00 AM to get all the important details.

One key piece of information that was revealed today was that you'll need an account on the Disneyland website, so if you don't currently have one and plan to be going after a reservation, you'll want to setup the account soon so you won't have to worry about it later. Since the Disneyland website will likely be a hub of activity as people try to make reservations, you'll absolutely want to be sure you don't have extra steps you'll need to complete. Also, of course, you'll need to buy valid theme park admission to get into the park at all.

Reservations will be needed to get into Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge beginning on opening day, May 31, and will last for about three weeks until June 22. We've known since opening day was announced that reservations would be needed, and that Disneyland hotel reservations would get you one, but it wasn't clear until now just how available reservations would be to locals who don't need hotels or others who maybe couldn't afford to drop the cash in a Disneyland hotel.

If you want to be absolutely sure you get into Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, the hotel room route is still an option. While not every Disneyland Resort hotel is still available for every evening, there are still rooms available, including for the night before and the day of Galaxy's Edge opening. Although, with the reservation process now officially confirmed, one wonders how quickly those rooms might fill up.

Early expectations were that people were going to come out of the woodwork when Galaxy's Edge opened and far more people than the park could handle would show up and try to get in. With the announcement of the reservation system it seems that won't be the case, at least not until the reservation period ends. To that end, showing on opening day might actually be the best idea. It seems likely that crowds will be kept to a level that's manageable for Disneyland.

At a certain point, there's only so much you can be prepared for until crowds start showing up and so the first few days or weeks might actually be the least crowded that the land will be for the foreseeable future, at least until the park is sure that everything in the new land is functioning as it should be.

In addition to offering new attractions based on Star Wars, that would be more than enough to bring a lot of people, Galaxy's Edge is offering a level of world immersion entirely new to Disney, if not theme parks entirely.

Star Wars; Galaxy's Edge is set to open at Walt Disney World, at Disney's Hollywood Studios, on August 29.
