Luke And Leia Being Siblings Started A Decades-Long Inside Joke With Mark Hamill And Carrie Fisher

While the original Star Wars trilogy will always be remembered first and foremost for the big twist revealing the relationship between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, there was also a second Skywalker family twist that few people saw coming. The revelation that Luke and Princess Leia were actually siblings.

Recently, Mark Hamill responded to a fan on Twitter, and revealed that when the actors themselves learned about the twist, it spawned a on going joke between the two that would continue for years to come.

It seems Carrie Fisher quite enjoyed being Star Wars royalty, and either didn't want to share, or just enjoyed telling Mark Hamill that he didn't get to join the club. Considering the sort of friendship that the two apparently had, it was likely the latter.

To be fair, I'm not sure that Carrie Fisher was entirely wrong here. Leia was a princess of Alderaan but was adopted, so her having a sibling shouldn't matter when it comes to the family line. Luke and Leia's mother was a Queen of Naboo, that is true, but on that planet the position of Queen was actually an elected position, not one that came about via bloodline. And Amidala wasn't even Queen when her kids were born, she was a senator of the Galactic Republic.

As far as Lord Vader goes. That title was clearly honorary and did not denote any actual royal position. He was a Lord of the Sith, after all. Since the Sith are only supposed to have two positions, a master and an apprentice, it's not even clear what Vader was actually supposed to be a lord over.

So I'm pretty sure that Luke Skywalker really was just a commoner, though the title of Jedi Knight is nothing to sneeze at.

Still, one can imagine Carrie Fisher frustratingly, and hilariously, putting up with Mark Hamill's various arguments over the years as to why his character should be considered royalty.

While Hamill and Fisher may have been siblings on screen they were clearly close friends off and the loss of the actress has weighed heavily on him. He still continues to remember her and speak openly about her over two years after her death. He must miss asking her questions about his royal status.

While we thought we were witnessing Carrie Fisher's final performance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we know now that wasn't the case. The actress will return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker via the use of inserting unused footage from the previous films in the trilogy. Exactly how that will work remains to be seen, but Fisher was seen in the Episode IX teaser trailer in a shot that's already breaking my heart.

We don't really know what The Rise of Skywalker has in store for us. Perhaps Luke Skywalker will posthumously be given a royal title. I'm sure Carrie Fisher would have loved that.

Avengers: Endgame Is Passing Avatar At The Domestic Box Office This Weekend

Now in its fourth week of release, Avengers: Endgame continues on its journey to become the highest-grossing film of all time. The superhero film has already made its mark on cinema history by breaking a ton of box office records and surpassing Titanic to become the second highest-grossing movie ever. Avatar is the last film standing, and while Endgame still needs a push to surpass that worldwide total, it'll at least beat Avatar domestically this weekend.

Avengers: Endgame has been the No. 1 movie domestically since it opened, with last week's top contender, Detective Pikachu, falling short of knocking the superhero film off its throne. However, this looks to be the week that Endgame takes second place, and it's only fitting that headshot master John Wick is the man who does it.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum is projected to open at anywhere from $45-55 million while Endgame will finish the weekend just shy of $30 million. While Endgame might not be taking the crown for the fifth consecutive week, it will still be passing another milestone this weekend. The superhero epic will become the second highest-grossing domestically, officially passing Avatar.

Endgame is likely to earn $29.7 million this weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. This would push Endgame's domestic total to $771.1 million, dethroning Avatar. James Cameron's sci-fi flick currently sits at $760.5 million domestic, a position it's comfortably held since about 2010.

The record that fans really seem to care about is the worldwide total, but Endgame still has a bit to go before we can say that the reign of Avatar is over. However, perhaps the domestic record is a sign of things to come.

However, it's unlikely that Endgame will be able to secure the all-time No. 1 domestic release spot. That title belongs to Star: Wars: The Force Awakens with a whopping $936.6 million. Even if Endgame has some serious legs, it seems impossible that it could topple this particular record. The Force Awakens was a tidal wave when it premiered back in 2015, and it played like gangbusters domestically.

But there's nothing wrong with second place! Endgame will have left its mark on history when all is said and done, and it'll be interesting to see what its total gross is when the summer ends. Avatar's longstanding worldwide total of $2,787,965,087 is within sight, but Endgame still has to deal with contenders like Toy Story 4 and Lion King.

Why Audiences Might Be Surprised By Some Of The Men's Thoughts In What Men Want

What Men Want is sure to have a lot of surprises in store for audiences when it hits theaters next year, and you can count on at least one of those surprises being just what many of the movie's male characters are actually thinking. When CinemaBlend visited the film's set in May, star Taraji P. Henson noted that, if, for instance, you figured their thoughts would all be strictly sexual, you might want to think again.

Men are just as insecure as we are. I mean, I think the women sit back and they wait for the sexual stuff, 'Oh, he's going to talk about her tits and her ass.' They are very smart about the things they put on men's minds [in this movie]. So, I think you'll be surprised -- just like I am -- at the things that go through men's brains. You know, like this one guy, he's an assistant to another sports agent and his thought is, 'Give me a raise, you prick!' How many times have women said that?

So, it would seem that one thing What Men Want is going to do for audiences is put a spotlight on how men and women can actually be quite similar, at least where our private thoughts are concerned. The idea that men are just as insecure as women, and spend time worrying about how they measure up to others helps to even the playing field a bit and show that we really all want the same things out of life. As Taraji P. Henson mentioned when she spoke to us, even guys can be under-appreciated at work and get salty about it sometimes.

After watching the awesome trailer, you can see that Taraji P. Henson, who plays a sports agent trying to move up in the ranks as she is getting boxed out by her male colleagues in What Men Want, is absolutely correct that the men's thoughts in the upcoming comedy do lend plenty of surprises. By my count, only one of the men featured actually had a sexual thought that her character, Ali, could hear. And, he promptly got a pool cue to the groin thanks to our male thought-hearing heroine, so he might think twice before letting his mind go dirty next time.

Taraji P. Henson gives a lot of credit to those behind What Men Want for making sure the movie has a good variety of male thoughts for us to dig into. Just consider what it would be like to sit through this film, even as a comedy, and hear nothing but men's thoughts "about her tits and her ass." Forget about it not being much fun, it would probably get downright creepy before too long. Luckily for us, What Men Want is more interested in revealing some masculine insecurities than it is sex talk and some gleeful thoughts about strangers walking through fart clouds.
