Ever since the trailer debuted a few months back, Mandy has been one of the most intriguing post-summer movies. The action horror film stars Nicolas Cage, giving a trademark crazy performance in a phantasmagorical revenge story. Nicolas Cage is earning positive notices for his performance in the low-budget flick, leading to thoughts that there is more he could do in the low-budget horror space-- perhaps with a company like Blumhouse. Well, Nicolas Cage agrees. He likes what Blumhouse is doing and he'd be up for starring in a Blumhouse movie, as he said:

[Jason Blum's] certainly touched a nerve, and he's having great success. I work with anyone who is enthusiastic and has an understanding of what they'd like to do with whatever my instrument can offer them. I certainly would not hesitate. I think what he's doing is a great concept and the results back that up.

Nicolas Cage sounds like he is very much open to starring in a movie for Jason Blum, whatever it may be. He seems to be very aware of the success Blumhouse is having with low-budget horror, and his confidence in that success and Jason Blum's enthusiasm and vision is why he wouldn't hesitate to star in a Blumhouse production. His comments to Forbes also give you a good idea of how Nicolas Cage views his profession as an actor. He sees himself as an instrument for the filmmaker to use as he or she sees fit and if Jason Blum can use Nicolas Cage in something, he is more than willing to oblige.

Wanting to star in a Blumhouse movie and Blumhouse actually wanting you to are two different things, so Nicolas Cage's desire to work with Blumhouse does not guarantee it'll happen. Fortunately, this fandom goes both ways, and Blumhouse Productions head Jason Blum is excited at the idea of working with Nicolas Cage. And he will seemingly look for an opportunity to do so, as he explained:

And I had no idea that Nicolas Cage wants to work with Blumhouse, I'm a huge fan of his, and I love that he's a huge fan of ours. Seriously, I'd love to have him in a Blumhouse movie; he'd be great. I see him as perhaps a very concerned father of a teenage boy who has had something terrible happen to them. It would be amazing. I'm going to have to figure that out.

While speaking to Forbes, you can tell how psyched Jason Blum is to know that Nicolas Cage is a fan of what he and his company. Blum seems to already be brainstorming story ideas, and what kind of role he could use the Oscar winner for. Jason Blum mentioned something of a more dramatic role for Nicolas Cage, but he is a versatile actor willing to do whatever is asked. So whether it be something serious or something that calls for a crazy Nicolas Cage performance, the actor should have the experience.

Now all that needs to happen is for these two to set a lunch and get the ball rolling on some story ideas. There are no guarantees, but I'd guess Nicolas Cage will show up in a Blumhouse movie sooner or later. Blumhouse has plenty in the works at the moment. This fall sees the release of the Halloween reboot, and Jason Blum also would love to reboot the Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer franchises.

First Look At Michael Myers Coming For Laurie Strode In New Halloween Movie

On October 31, 1978, he came home. Now, forty years after the release of John Carpenter's original Halloween, the terrifying Michael Myers will return to Haddonfield, Illinois for one more showdown with Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode. There's quite a bit of fan anticipation to see what Stronger director David Gordon Green does with the franchise when Blumhouse's Halloween debuts on October 19, and our excitement is only enhanced by a first-look at Michael bursting through a door to get Laurie. Check out the new image, below.

Some things never change, and four decades and a few bullet wounds have not diminished Michael's immense strength. We don't have much context for that image in terms of plot points, but it's clear that Michael is going to get up close and personal with Laurie in the Halloween reboot. The former babysitter tries her best to barricade the door and keep him at bay, but he can punch his hand through the glass to reach her if he has to. That said, as USA Today points out in this image, Laurie has changed quite a bit in the years since he first tried to kill her, and she's more ready than ever.

Of course, this raises questions about how much damage Michael will sustain throughout the movie. One of the more significant fan discussions that have taken place in the months leading up to the release of this new take on Halloween is the question of whether or not Michael will be genuinely immortal in the film. Michael became increasingly durable and unkillable as the franchise moved forward over the years, but with Halloween apparently ignoring every single one of the sequels, we will have to wait and see how much the classic slasher bleeds when he punches through the glass.

One other thing worth noting about this look at the showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers is how much it harkens back to a classic moment from the original movie. Specifically, the image of Michael's hand bursting through a door feels decidedly reminiscent of the sequence from the original in which the masked killer (played by Nick Castle in the first film) punches his way through a door to get to Laurie -- who then, in turn, has to punch her way through a glass window to get out of the house. Audiences will finally get a chance to see that showdown between Laurie and Michael later this year when Blumhouse's Halloween debuts in theaters on October 19. The film's trailer will debut this Friday, so keep an eye out for more updates!

Some big things are on the horizon in the galaxy far, far away. Hot off the blockbuster success of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, as well as the recent trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, it looks like the Star Wars franchise has just taken yet another significant step forward by pulling talent from Westeros. That's right; we have officially learned that Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have been tapped for a brand new set of Star Wars films.

The Star Wars franchise was already fairly stacked with Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: Episode IX, and Rian Johnson's recently-announced trilogy that will take the action away from the Skywalker clan. Now David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are going to step to write and produce a series of new Star Wars films (seemingly also separate from the main saga) that will similarly explore new corners of the Star Wars galaxy. The duo is primarily known for its work on HBO's hit series Game of Thrones, and it seems that Benioff and Weiss will get to work on the new Star Wars films as soon as Game of Thrones finishes its final season.

The possibility of a brand new series of Star Wars movies raises some obvious questions about where and when these stories could take place in the overarching Star Wars lore. Reports have swirled about a variety of solo projects in recent months, ranging from an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie to the long-rumored Boba Fett movie. With so many characters waiting to potentially get a spinoff movie (Donald Glover's Lando Calrissian is a new fan-favorite after that Solo Super Bowl trailer), David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have virtually limitless resources to adapt in this world.

Then again, it's entirely possible that this new series of movies might not have a connection to any existing characters in the films or Expanded Universe. Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has already made it entirely clear that he isn't using any existing Star Wars mythology to create his upcoming trilogy, so it's within the realm of possibility to assume that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss could do the same.

CinemaBlend will bring you more updates related to these new Star Wars movies (as well as any other developments in the Star Wars franchise) as more information is made available to us; as of this announcement, no release dates for these new films have been revealed. For now, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is still in theaters, and you can catch Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story in theaters later this year on May 25.
