Looks Like Aladdins Gilbert Gottfried Isnt Happy About Being Replaced By Alan Tudyk

Along with a brand new trailer for the new live-action Aladdin, yesterday revealed that the character of Iago, the villainous parrot of antagonist Jafar, will be voiced by Disney's go-to voice talent Alan Tudyk. In the original animated classic the character was portrayed by Gilbert Gottfried, and it appears that Mr. Gottfried isn't too thrilled with being overlooked for the live-action remake, as he's been retweeting several comments from fans who are various degrees of irate over the decision to not bring him back.

The spectrum of fans who are angry that Gilbert Gottfried isn't returning to the role of Iago covers quite a range. Some are confused, others are F-bomb dropping irate. Gottfried has had no problem over the last day retweeting angry fans, including the ones who are swearing up a storm over the decision. If nothing else, Gottfried seems to appreciate the support he's getting from fans. Clearly, his performance in the original Aladdin was quite important to a lot of people.

Many seem to feel that Gottfried's performance is on par with that of James Earl Jones in The Lion King. Some of the tweets point out that Jones is returning to the role of Mufasa for the new remake, and so, as precedent, Disney is certainly willing to bring the original voices back for the new versions.

Certainly, bringing Gilbert Gottfried back would have been a big nostalgia move, but that might also be exactly the reason it didn't happen. With Will Smith coming in to voice the iconic Genie, that character, and thus the entire movie, is going to have a very different tone and feel. Recasting another voice actor would have the effect of causing those watching the new film to remember the old one all the more while they watch it, and that might not be the best way to go. Letting the new Aladdin stand on its own and be its own thing is likely the best way to achieve success.

It's also far from clear just how much Alan Tudyk does as far as his voice of Iago. We saw Iago in the new trailer, but we have yet to hear him speak. Iago is the only animal character to be fully voiced in the animated version, and we know that the live-action movie will give Jafar a new henchman character, so the movie might just make Iago a non-speaking parrot (beyond the speaking actual parrots can do) to match Jasmine's tiger Rajah and Aladdin's monkey Abu a little better in a movie that's supposed to be more "real."

Alan Tudyk did voice the chicken Hei-Hei in Moana, who never said a word and just spent the entire film clucking, so bringing Tudyk in to record parrot squawks would not be the craziest thing he's ever done.

Chris Pine Discusses His Full-Frontal Nudity In New Movie Outlaw King

We've been hearing a lot about Chris Pine's next movie venture over the last few weeks. First we got a good look at the actor playing bearded historical character Robert The Bruce and then we were able to take a look at the first trailer for the movie. However, while the trailer was full of period costumes and fighting, there was one thing missing that we can expect to be a part of the final product when it hits Netflix: full-frontal nudity. Now the cat's out of the bag, or the dick's out of the box, Chris Pine is explaining what it was really like to film a scene naked for Outlaw King. He said:

There's so much beheading in this, and yet people want to talk about my penis. I think that says something about our society, where people can get disemboweled, but it's the man's junk that is of interest. It was very cold, and on the side of a major highway. Not exactly the elements I would choose myself.

Despite Chris Pine's apparent lack of fondness for talking about his penis, the actor did reveal that filming the scenes wasn't as comfortable as you might guess. Not only did he have to drop trou in front of people on the set, he also admits that while filming his nude scene it was "very cold" and also they were filming in a weird location next to a highway.

Speaking to THR at the Toronto International Film Festival, Chris Pine did say that he felt the nude scene was important, which is why he chose to go full-frontal in Outlaw King.

I wouldn't obviously do it if I didn't feel it was important. Underneath the Emperor's clothes is a mulling, puking little kid who was once upon a time just rolling around in the mud and a child. The idea that underneath every prime minister, and president, and ruling leader that we give power to is someone that is just an animal, and if you stripped all of that bullshit aside, they would be hunting and gathering, and fornicating and pooping. We're just base animals. I thought it was very important to see this man who's going to have power be an animal.

While some projects like Starz's Spartacus have previously embraced full-frontal nudity, the idea of a dude laying it all out there is still fairly novel, especially on TV. (Game of Thrones has also shown a fair number of dick shots, although Emilia Clarke has previously noted fans see way more boobs.) Netflix has embraced full-frontal a bit more than the average theatrical studio, as evidenced when Adam Devine also showed his penis in Game Over, Man!, also a Netflix original movie. So, although Chris Pine doesn't think it's a big deal he decided to get nude for Outlaw King, the fact that it's still a new-ish thing for Netflix or other at-home entertainment to be doing makes it a bit of a talking point.

While we'll have to wait for the nude scene in the movie, the scruffy beard Chris Pine sports in the upcoming movie is still worth taking a look at. Check out the trailer, below.

Now that we finally know the title of the next Avengers movie, it's time for everybody to get obsessive about the title of that other major 2019 release, Star Wars Episode IX. While it will likely be some time before we get this one officially, some fans are already getting a little too excited about it. In response to one fan who proclaimed he would try and pull the title out of Mark Hamill, the actor has responded with a title that won't make for a great Star Wars movie, but is probably the perfect name for an Ariana Grande pop music album, What do you think of Star Wars: Thank U, Next.

Clearly, the actor doesn't think anybody will be getting any spoilers from him. Then the icing on the cake is a second pop music reference in the tweet, that he's "Sorry, not Sorry" he made the joke.

Attempting to get spoilers out of Mark Hamill seems like a fool's errand. The man has been playing this game with us for years now and no leaks have been traced back to him. He usually responds to requests for info with jokes like this. He's having fun playing with the fans.

On the plus side, it's possible we won't have too long to wait to get the actual title of Star Wars: Episode IX. The title of Episode VIII was dropped in late January in 2017, so, if Lucasfilm holds to a similar promotional schedule for Episode IX, we could have the title of that movie before the end of this month.

Of course, in the case of Avengers: Endgame, we didn't get that title until the first trailer was released. If Disney liked the way that worked, the studio might decide to wait on the title here as well. We didn't get the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi until Star Wars Celebration in April, so maybe we won't get answers until then.

Some Episode IX titles have been rumored or suggested by fans, though it's impossible to tell at this point if any stock should be put into them. The title could be pretty much anything considering we know next to nothing about the movie.

And while knowing the title will certainly be nice, it's unlikely to really give us much information. While both of the previous Star Wars titles made sense once we'd seen the movies, they gave us few hints about what we'd be seeing.

They did, however, give us lots of angles for discussion and we can certainly guess we'll be trying to dissect the Episode IX title for answers, regardless of whether or not it actually provides any. When Episode IX has a title, we'll have it here at CinemaBlend.
